IDW positions itself in the market as an added value integrator for Partners, with support at the level of consulting, solution design, daily management, implementation and support.
It took place in 2002 when it was founded in its current format, initially as an integrator of critical systems, mainly with the UNIX platform of Sun Microsystems. Always with a security aspect, in 2004 a Security Business Unit was created, with the establishment of Partnerships and diversification of skills.
In 2018 the company created a Specialized Services Business Unit to work at the level of resource placement areas, in collaboration with IDW's project areas. A year later, the organization invested in a Management Services area, which helped to complement IDW's offer with solutions management, and in 2021 the Porto office was inaugurated. At the end of 2023 the company had 99 employees in the group.
“We are an integrator with a lot of market time and with whom customers trust highly critical infrastructures, therefore, the quality of service is our highest priority, while we evolve the offer in a structured way to allow the qualification of our professionals”, explains the organization.
After registering a turnover of 13,6 million euros in 2021, IDW reported a 21% growth in 2022 to 16,5 million euros. From 2022 to 2023, the company grew 58%, which was reflected in 26,2 million euros in turnover. In the 21-23 triennium, IDW achieved 92% growth.
The organization considers that the business environment in Portugal is “challenging” due to the “high number of competitors that naturally results in very small margins”. This reality, says IDW, leads to greater efficiency in processes “to guarantee the viability and growth of companies of our type”. However, the company has sought to overcome “consistently these difficulties, typical of our market”, presenting consistent growth.
IDW has about 50 Partners, with solutions and Partnerships with other companies with specific work framed in company projects. Although the group of Strategic Partnerships is more extensive, Oracle, Check Point, Red Hat and Fortinet stand out in terms of turnover.
“We are constantly looking for new Partners that complement our offer and allow us to address the needs of our customers”, reveals the organization.
Cybersecurity is considered the biggest concern among customers, although the implementation of traditional cybersecurity solutions is not always at stake, as IDW notes: “solutions such as backup and replication, process consulting and ITSM platforms join perimeter protection solutions, endpoint, strong authentication and DLP (among others). Most projects involve the implementation of this type of solutions, in an integrated way, and involving our data center and security areas”.
The work developed by IDW takes place in the most varied verticals of the private and public sectors, with emphasis on the financial, energy and central public administration sectors.
“We are constantly analyzing how we grow and improve what we do, in a stable and structured way, evaluating new Partnerships and new business areas where it makes sense. The main thing is to listen to our customers to understand what they are looking for and, thus, better position our offer to be able to address these needs”, concludes the organization.
