From Exposure to Protection: The Success of the 4th IDW Security Day

On September 30th, 2025, the historic Adega Regional de Colares was transformed into the epicenter of digital protection in Portugal.

We hosted the 4th edition of our flagship annual event, IDW Security Day, under the theme "Integrated Cybersecurity: From Exposure to Protection." In a setting where tradition met innovation, we gathered dozens of clients, partners, and international experts for a day dedicated to sharing strategic knowledge.

Our goal was clear: to empower organizations to evolve from risk to resilience, pursuing the ultimate vision of "Zero Breaches."

An Elite Program: Strategy, Technology, and Future Vision

Digital transformation and AI have drastically expanded the corporate attack surface. To address this challenge, the day kicked off with an industry overview by António Dias (Business Developer at IDW), setting the stage for an exceptional panel of speakers.

Key highlights of the event included:

  • XM Cyber: Karl Buffin (VP of Sales, SEUR, Latam, and Africa) challenged the audience to shift their perspective with the session: “Do you know how an attacker would move through your network?” The presentation explored continuous exposure management, demonstrating how to identify and sever critical attack paths before they are exploited.
  • Vectra AI: Under the theme “How to Stop Modern Attacks in Modern Networks,” Alessio Mercuri (Sales Engineering Manager) demonstrated how AI-driven detection and response is fundamental to stopping threats that bypass traditional defenses.
  • IBM: Rui Barata Ribeiro (Senior Data & AI Sales) tackled one of the most urgent topics of 2025: “Data Protection in the Age of Generative AI,” exploring strategies to balance GenAI innovation with corporate data security.
  • Emvenci: The human element was a core focus. Alexandre Miguel Aniceto (Founder & CEO) presented “Human Risk: From Weak Link to First Line of Defense,” deconstructing the idea of the employee as a liability and transforming them into a defensive asset.
  • Entrust: Looking toward the future, David Taylor (Director of Technical Consulting) concluded the technical cycle with “Shifting to Cryptographic Security Posture Management in a Post-Quantum Era,” highlighting the need to prepare organizational encryption for the quantum computing age.

Networking, Wine, and Partnerships

IDW Security Day is about more than technical lectures. We believe that trust is the foundation of any security strategy.

Between a presentation by a local winemaker on the unique wines of Colares and a vibrant networking lunch, clients and partners had the opportunity to exchange real-world experiences and discuss organizational challenges in a relaxed, professional atmosphere.

The Path to Integrated Cybersecurity

This edition reinforced IDW’s commitment to being more than a technology provider—we are a knowledge partner.

A special thank you to our technology partners — Emvenci, Entrust, IBM, Vectra AIe XM Cyber— and to all the customers who trusted us and were present. Your energy and active participation were essential to the success of this day.
